Job Title: Youth Specialist

Warren Village Inc. is seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Specialist to join our team. As a Youth Specialist, you will play a vital role in planning and delivering youth programming at our Gilpin campus of transitional housing for single parent families.

Job Summary:

The Youth Specialist will foster a safe and engaging environment for elementary and middle school-aged children, promoting social-emotional development and overall wellness. You will work closely with parents/caregivers to provide individualized support and resources, while also collaborating with our team to develop outcome measures and evaluation tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with children and parents/caregivers.
  • Design and implement developmentally appropriate evening enrichment activities that promote social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and creative growth.
  • Supervise and manage a group of children in a safe and caring environment, maintaining a structured and organized space.
  • Conduct enrollment meetings with new participants and establish supportive relationships with parents.
  • Coordinate and manage Kids' Club volunteers, in partnership with the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Maintain relationships with community partners and seek new partnerships for Kids' Club.
  • Work collaboratively with the supervisor to develop the Kids' Club budget annually.
  • Coordinate and facilitate summer activities for youth participants that complement other community offerings.
  • Utilize a Mobility Mentoring approach to engage in one-on-one assessment, goal setting, and coaching with a caseload of 8-16 youth.
  • Provide case management support to parents/caregivers, assisting with resource and referral navigation.
  • Communicate effectively and problem-solve with youth and parents.
  • Collect and enter data related to youth programming, utilizing current technology and databases.
Requirements:
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven track record of managing a large group of children in a school, afterschool, camp, or similar setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual (Spanish, French, Arabic, or Swahili) highly preferred.
  • Associate's degree in social work, Human Services, Education, or a related field.
Work Environment:

Frequent indoor activities in an office environment, with consistent exposure to outdoor conditions, weather permitting.

Physical Demands:

Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit while working with children; use hand and finger dexterity; talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, as well as craft activities. Constantly positions self to maintain equipment, including under desks. Frequently communicates clearly and concisely with children, residents, staff, and volunteers. Must be able to observe children's activities, indoors and outdoors, utilizing established safety protocols. Occasionally lifts up to 40 Lbs.
