Job Summary

Urban Peak is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Life Skills Manager to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing direct supervision and support to youth in our Neighborhood programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Documentation: Accurately document admission records and services received by clients, collect and maintain accurate data, and document significant events in the Communication Log.
  • Youth Supervision: Provide milieu supervision, ensure youth safety, and maintain a welcoming presence.
  • Assessments: Collect and record intake information, assess client admission, and forward data to the intake supervisor.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support, including verbal and physical altercations, and phone counseling.
  • Case Management: Facilitate group activities, discussions, and case management meetings, and may be assigned a limited caseload as the primary case manager.
Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years' of experience working with high-risk, adolescent populations in a shelter, residential, or transitional housing environment.
  • Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve is encouraged but not required.
  • Able to connect and work effectively with a diverse, resistant street youth population.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment, set clear and appropriate boundaries with youth.
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues related to the homeless adolescent population, mental health issues, and substance abuse among high-risk young adults.
  • Provide services that are trauma-informed, appropriate, and effective.
  • Problem-solving skills, including multi-tasking, assessment, organization, and prioritization.
  • Team-oriented and able to coordinate with various departments and staff.
  • Understanding of the provision of and commitment to trauma-informed care.
  • Must be QMAP certified or eligible for QMAP certification.
  • Ability to use a second language in written and verbal communication (Spanish, Vietnamese, ASL) is desired.
  • An understanding of trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles, and an ability to implement these approaches.
  • Must be insurable as a driver on Urban Peak's auto liability policy to conduct business on behalf of the agency or transport youth using an Urban Peak vehicle and an approved personal vehicle.
  • Must pass both federal and state background checks and a pre-employment TB screening.
What We Offer
  • Salary: $24.02
  • Shift: Part-time, Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 8:30pm
  • Second Language pay differential
