Position Overview:

The Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology is seeking to appoint a tenured professor specializing in Plant or Fungal Biology. This role includes the directorship of the Harvard University Herbaria, which is renowned for housing one of the most extensive collections of dried plant and fungal specimens globally.

These invaluable specimens are essential for understanding the diversity of life on Earth and serve as a permanent reference for research and education.

The Herbaria is currently undertaking a significant initiative aimed at enhancing its scientific capabilities through comprehensive digitization, facility renovations, and advancements in bioinformatics.

Our department and the Herbaria maintain strong collaborations with various biodiversity institutions, enriching our academic and research endeavors.

We are in search of an exceptional scientist who can provide visionary leadership for the Herbaria and contribute to broader biodiversity initiatives at Harvard.

We encourage applications from candidates with expertise in various areas of plant and fungal biology, including but not limited to evolution, ecology, developmental biology, genomics, symbiotic relationships, and the impacts of climate change.

Successful candidates will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels while leading an innovative research program.
Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a doctorate in a relevant field.
