Key Contributions to OHM Advisors

The ideal candidate will spearhead the civil engineering design initiatives for a diverse range of land development projects, primarily catering to private sector clientele. This role involves close collaboration with Project Managers to outline and implement a service scope that aligns with client objectives. Project Engineers play a pivotal role throughout the project lifecycle, offering guidance from initial design concepts to construction completion.

Core Responsibilities

Project Oversight:
  • Advise the Project Manager on expected tasks and associated efforts.
  • Ensure project success by adhering to established work plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Supervise the design team and manage quality assurance/control processes.
Technical Proficiency:
  • Design and plan for new construction and redevelopment projects.
  • Draft engineering plans, specifications, reports, studies, technical memoranda, and other essential project documentation.
  • Possess regulatory knowledge relevant to the project's jurisdiction.
  • Understand Zoning & Land Use Codes, Subdivision Regulations, and Design Standards.
  • Implement stormwater management practices and quality controls, with knowledge of Best Management Practices for design and construction.
  • Demonstrate functional knowledge of utilities including sanitary sewer, water, power, gas, and telecommunications.
  • Execute grading designs for mass earthwork, roadways, parking lots, building pads, sidewalks, and other site enhancements, with an understanding of ADA & PROWAG design standards.
  • Exhibit competency in Land Surveying practices and the ability to interpret legal documents such as plats, deeds, and easements.
  • Utilize topographic models for existing and proposed conditions effectively.
  • Show proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software, AutoTurn, and other civil engineering design tools.
Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Work effectively with internal teams, external consultants, and regulatory bodies.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to the growth of the organization.
  • Communicate clearly with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications for Success
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Site Design, Civil Engineering, or Land Development.
  • Active Kentucky PE license is mandatory; Indiana or Tennessee PE is advantageous.
  • Experience in designing private development projects across residential, commercial, or industrial sectors.
  • Proficient in preparing construction documents, including plan drawings, specifications, bid documents, and cost estimates.
  • Able to engage effectively with clients, internal teams, contractors, and community officials.
  • Familiarity with state agencies and/or DOT specifications.
