Surgical Services Manager Position

Job Summary:

The Surgical Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of designated units within the division of Surgical Services. This role involves managing inpatient units or Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASCs), with the area of specialization provided through the job posting process.

This position requires a strong clinical background, with a minimum of five years of RN experience, including at least two years in Perioperative Services. Leadership experience in a healthcare setting is also essential.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to facilitate interdepartmental relationships and support the mission, vision, and goals of the department and organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing labor and inventory costs in a cost-effective manner
  • Developing and maintaining staffing patterns for the unit
  • Coordinating and chairing staff meetings and UBTs
  • Ensuring staff has knowledge and skills to provide appropriate, safe care to patients
  • Supporting ongoing education and professional growth of staff

The Surgical Services Manager will also be responsible for:

  • Participating in data gathering and analysis
  • Articulating organization and department performance improvement programs and goals
  • Maintaining compliance with all regulatory bodies and professional standards
  • Investigating any quality concerns in the department
