Surgical Technician, KSMC

As a Surgical Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in a collaborative team environment. You will participate in creating a high-performance culture based on joint decision-making and support the Labor Management Partnership principles and practice.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in creating a high-performance culture based on joint decision-making
- Support the Labor Management Partnership principles and practice
- Provide support and assistance to patients and the healthcare team to promote population-based care, continuity of care, customer satisfaction, and self-care
- Perform in the scrub role during surgical procedures and coordinate other activities with other OR professionals
- Comply with shift, unit, and organizational policies and procedures
- Monitor and take corrective action to prevent recurring absences
- Restrict personal business to non-patient care areas during break times
- Comply with Kaiser's Time Keeping Policy to accurately reflect productive time worked
- Maintain current knowledge and skill base with personal commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Promote collaboration and professional interaction with the healthcare team
- Promote professional conduct and comply with department Standards of Behavior
- Communicate information so that continuity of care is maintained
- Communicate with patients, families, and other staff in a professional and courteous manner
- Obtain and demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to provide appropriate population-based and culturally sensitive care to patients and families
- Utilize knowledge of type of procedure to plan for appropriate setup
- Obtain and demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to provide age-appropriate care to patients
- Initiate appropriate measures based on protocol for the management of the intraoperative patient
- Apply principles of aseptic technique
- Evaluate sterile packs and supplies
- Provide a well-organized sterile area
- Perform all necessary procedures correctly to ensure patient safety intraoperatively
- Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology
- Basic Life Support required at hire
- Surgical Technologist Certificate required at hire
- Knowledge of sterile core area
- Knowledge of sterile technique, operating room procedures, and equipment
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discipline
- Two to five years of scrubbing experience in all surgical procedures in an inpatient or ambulatory OR setting
- Ability to rotate through sterile core area
