Surgical Services Associate Manager Job Description

The Surgical Services Associate Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Manager for the daily operations of surgical services, including OR, SPU/PACU, and Endoscopy. This position requires effective management of unit operations, including planning, resource allocation, and staff management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Unit Operations Management: Develop and implement effective plans for unit operations, ensuring efficient deployment of resources and staff.
  • Staff Management: Assist with recruitment, hiring, and performance appraisals of staff. Counsel employees and address disciplinary issues.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Foster collaborative relationships with physicians and colleagues to achieve financial targets.
  • Patient Care and Compliance: Supervise and assist in the delivery of patient care, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and policies.
  • Training and Development: Develop and implement orientation plans for new hires, coordinate in-service training, and work with educators to develop and mentor preceptors.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum three years of RN clinical experience in OR and/or PACU, L&D, CVL, or GI.
  • Leadership Experience: Minimum two years of demonstrated staff leadership or advanced nursing practice role.
  • Education: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • License and Certification: Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided) and Basic Life Support certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced Knowledge: Minimum five years of demonstrated knowledge in Surgical Services area of clinical experience.
  • Leadership Experience: Previous leadership experience.
  • Certifications: CNOR certification.
  • Education: Bachelors degree in nursing or related field.
