Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Researcher to join our Product Strategy Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for understanding and accurately communicating customer needs in the pharmaceutical industry. Your insights and ideas will play a crucial role in shaping our product R&D strategy and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Pharmaceutical Market Research: Conduct in-depth research on the latest trends in the pharmaceutical market, including biomedical technology news, key academic publications, and changes in regulatory policies. Attend conferences, discussion groups, and workshops to stay up-to-date with industry developments.
  2. Market and Technology Analysis: Analyze customer needs, market opportunities, competitive situations, and potential third-party technologies related to themes specified by the manager. Write comprehensive reports summarizing your findings and providing strategic recommendations.
  3. User Research: Conduct user interviews and surveys to gain a deeper understanding of user experiences and needs. Create customer personas reflecting user needs and identify potential future products, technologies, or software features that could cater to these needs.
  4. Supportive Role in the R&D Team: Provide market information needed for proposing R&D projects, participate in high-level project proposal discussions, and facilitate communication between the R&D team and collaborators.
  5. Collaboration with the Marketing Team: Work with the marketing team to organize and present at promotional events, such as webinars, scientific conferences, and seminars, to enhance Shimadzu's technology brand.
  6. Connective Role: Establish connections with key opinion leaders, customers, collaborators, authorities, and other stakeholders to initiate mission-critical conversations with the R&D team.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical science, or a closely related field, with a master's degree or Ph.D. preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience working as a scientist conducting experimental procedures for new drug development in a pharmaceutical company, CRO, CDMO, or equivalent.
  • Extensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical market, including trends, statistics, and regulatory policies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and understand key technologies and scientific insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
