Position Overview

The Technical Professionals Group (TPG) is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to oversee the installation and evaluation of driver assistance technologies that support our development teams. This role involves analyzing outcomes, processing feedback from contract drivers, enhancing processes, and providing strategic recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with DAS scrum teams to facilitate work in various environments, including garages, vehicles, and laboratories, focusing on the installation and testing of driver assistance systems.
  • Develop expertise in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features to comprehend system functionalities, identify subtleties, and deliver constructive feedback to development teams.
  • Coordinate logistics for vehicles and contract drivers.
  • Install and validate the functionality of driver assistance systems on both test and customer vehicles.
  • Construct vehicle and bench electrical harnesses.
  • Manage, track, and document hardware updates for prototype orders.
  • Implement vehicle instrumentation and retrofitting of electronic systems in a lab/garage setting.
  • Utilize data acquisition and diagnostic tools proficiently.
  • Generate automated reports from data collected during mileage accumulation, analyze results, and present findings to relevant teams.
  • Compose technical reports to document testing outcomes and conclusions.
  • Maintain and enhance work instructions and testing protocols.
  • Seek opportunities for process improvements in terms of cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving abilities within a collaborative team setting.
  • Effectively communicate conclusions based on test results.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in basic electronic systems troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with tasks performed in a vehicle lab environment, requiring minimal guidance from engineering resources.
  • Experience with vehicle systems, preferably in a commercial context.
  • Knowledge of vehicle test instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
  • Exposure to various diagnostic software and automotive diagnostic interfaces is advantageous.
  • Experience with CAN networks and Vector tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with test management systems is beneficial.
  • Ability to coordinate vehicles and drivers to achieve scheduled mileage targets.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Understanding of driver assistance functions at the vehicle level is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of brake components and systems is advantageous.
  • Proactive work ethic with a focus on action.
  • Proficient in data acquisition systems and capable of quickly assimilating data.
  • Desire to learn new tools and develop a diverse skill set.
  • Strong technical aptitude, comfortable in an automotive/truck service environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Influence and motivate team members, providing solutions and removing obstacles.
  • Detail-oriented with a thorough approach to record-keeping.
  • Experience in the trucking industry is a plus.
  • Proficient in creating clear engineering procedures and reports.
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Education:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Systems Engineering is preferred, or an Engineering degree in a related field is required.
Travel Requirements:
  • Anticipated travel up to 10% to customer or internal sites.
