Job Summary

Pacific Rail Services is seeking a skilled Conductor and Engineer to join our team at the Union Pacific Houston, TX Auto Terminal. This role requires prior experience in the railroad industry and a strong understanding of rail equipment movement and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Train Engineer with the movement of rail equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  • Maintain an organized rail yard by moving rail cars and freeing rail tracks for incoming traffic.
  • Manage rail track switches to direct rail cars to appropriate tracks.
  • Connect and disconnect rail air hoses as needed to consolidate rail cars efficiently.
  • Lead job briefings with the Supervisors and crew prior to work beginning.
  • Ensure compliance with HAZMAT and OSHA Regulations, reporting any incidents to the supervisory team immediately.
Requirements
  • Prior Conductor/Engineer experience is required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Advanced knowledge of the railroad industry from vocational education, apprenticeship, or on-the-job training.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with various individuals.
Work Environment

This role requires working in an ambient outdoor environment with varying conditions, including rain, snow, ice, heat, wind, and cold. The noise level is loud and continuous, and the ability to work in a hazardous environment is essential.
