We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiologic Technologist II to join our team at Tufts Medical Center. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing radiographic procedures, evaluating patient conditions, and ensuring the quality and continuity of patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform radiographic procedures in accordance with radiological standards, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Evaluate patient conditions, assess patient safety, and ensure proper use of restraint/support devices.
- Review each examination for technical accuracy, present completed examinations to supervisors, and communicate pertinent data to responsible parties.
- Identify anatomical orientation on all required images, ensure proper film identification, and label films with appropriate stickers.
- Coordinate radiographic examinations to ensure quality and continuity of patient care, and assist with workflow management in the absence of the radiology supervisor.
- Contribute to the efficient operation of the department, maintain confidentiality of hospital-related information, and report safety hazards to supervisors.
- Initiate incident reports, report incomplete and incorrect examinations, and educate patients in a professional manner.
- Graduate of an approved School of Radiological Technology.
- Certification granted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART).
- Licensed by the Massachusetts Radiation Control Board.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Two (2) years directly related experience.
- Ability to transport patients, including aggressive ones, from wheelchair or patient slide board to table.
- Ability to move portable x-ray machine to examination site.
- Occasional sitting, frequent standing, walking, and lifting of 30-35 lbs.
- Ability to wear protective lead aprons and lead gloves during examinations.
- Manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate radiology equipment.
- Hearing and visual acuity sufficient to perform examinations, observe patients, read monitors and documents, and hear audible equipment alarms.
- Knowledge of radiographic equipment, examinations, and procedures that require contrast agents.
- Knowledge of patient transfers and positioning techniques.
- Knowledge of radiographic equipment operation and radiation safety.
- Ability to organize patient care and set priorities by providing critical care first and implementing physician's orders.
- Ability to perform all necessary computer operations to ensure proper examination documentation and charges.
- Responds to changes in the work schedule in a calm and appropriate manner.
- Exhibits good judgment and a calm demeanor in all situations, especially during periods of stress and emergency.
- Effective at time management.
- Ability to communicate with age-specific populations served when greeting, receiving, or directing patients, visitors, and hospital personnel.
