HR Benefits Specialist

At the University of New Mexico, we are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused HR Tech to join our Benefits & Employee Wellness team. Our team is a collaborative and progressive unit, with a talented and cohesive team of Benefits professionals.
Job Summary:The HR Tech will provide administrative support for the University's employee, student, and retiree benefit programs, including life insurance, health care coverage, disability, education benefits, retirement, student benefits, and other related programs. This role will serve as the first point of contact for Benefit inquiries, providing daily advice, assistance, and follow-up to employees, retirees, students, other UNM departments, and benefit vendors regarding UNM Benefits policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide daily advice, assistance, and follow-up to employees, retirees, students, other UNM departments, and benefit vendors regarding UNM Benefits policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with the UNM Benefits team to resolve and/or refer UNM Benefit specific procedural items and inquiries.
- Develop, expedite, and maintain benefit-related files, records, and other documents.
- High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience working with employee benefits, strong communication and customer service skills, team-oriented, and bilingual in Spanish are preferred.
This is a hybrid onsite/remote schedule position, reporting directly to the Sr. Benefit Specialist. The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented individual with a background in employee benefits, strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to identify, analyze, and solve data and/or procedural problems.
