Peer Support Specialist

Greater Nashua Mental Health is seeking a full-time Peer Support Specialist to join our Emergency Services Team. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will develop meaningful relationships with clients, act as a mentor, and provide support to help them advocate for themselves based on their personal experiences.
The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to provide peer support services in the community and in homes, as this position requires regular home visits. You will use your own life experience to engage individuals in crisis, assist them with engaging in services and supports, and develop individualized recovery plans.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working as part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team to provide evidence-based treatment modalities to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders.
- Providing peer support services in the community and in homes, including regular home visits.
- Using your own life experience to engage individuals in crisis, assist them with engaging in services and supports, and develop individualized recovery plans.
- Playing an advocacy role, providing transportation, and promoting self-care, illness self-management, and wellness and recovery.
- Completing documentation and participating in team meetings.
Requirements include:
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience, either personally or professionally.
- The ability to hold a NH Driver's license, reliable transportation, and insurance.
- Strong collaborating skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated, and proactive.
