Position Summary:

The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for facilitating efficient operations within the healthcare organization. This role requires the ability to manage multiple tasks while demonstrating excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily billing operations to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Guide billing activities to maximize timely and precise claim submissions.
  • Input patient and insurance information into the billing system.
  • Collect and process daily payments, including copays and balances.
  • Ensure compliance with confidentiality regulations and manage daily tasks in accordance with HIPAA and other applicable laws.
  • Engage positively with colleagues and patients, demonstrating exceptional customer service.
  • Collaborate with billing, front desk, and provider teams to enhance billing practices.
  • Represent the organization professionally in all communications and actions.
  • Adhere to CPC policies and procedures, supporting the organization's mission and values.
  • Review and submit claims for accuracy.
  • Address and correct rejected or denied claims.
  • Prepare and distribute patient statements.
  • Respond to billing inquiries from patients and providers.
  • Submit charges promptly.
  • Resolve patient billing issues effectively.
  • Communicate necessary corrections to relevant staff.
  • Verify and record patient payments.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is essential.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; or one year of relevant experience or training.
  • Experience in medical billing, insurance, and coding is required.
  • Understanding of revenue cycle management is necessary.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
  • Excellent customer service and conflict resolution abilities are required.
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills are a must.
  • Strong computer skills are necessary.
  • Experience with eCW or similar EHR systems and a medical billing certification is preferred.

Work Environment: In-person position.

Completion of medical clearance requirements is necessary, which may include vaccinations or approved accommodations.
