Department Overview:

The Global Security Services (GSS) department at MITRE collaborates with both internal and external stakeholders to manage security risks effectively. Within GSS, the Industrial Security Programs (ISP) Department is responsible for overseeing the operations of MITRE's classified facilities. We ensure the implementation of security controls designed to protect both unclassified and classified national security information entrusted to us as part of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). Our team applies resources strategically to mitigate risks across various operational domains, adhering to security administration standards and control strategies that align with corporate expectations.

Position Summary:

MITRE is in search of an Industrial Security Specialist to provide essential security support for various collateral projects within the Department of Defense.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support security processes related to Control and Accountability, Storage, Transmission, Reproduction, Disposition and Retention, Disclosure, and Destruction of collateral classified materials.
  • Ensure proper accounting, control, transmission, packaging, and safeguarding of collateral classified information, including destruction in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain document control security by protecting classified documents as per relevant regulations and in coordination with the Facility Security Officer (FSO).
  • Review classified documents to verify proper marking and compliance.
  • Assist the Corporate FSO with self-inspections to ensure adherence to government and company security regulations.
  • Keep accurate records of all accountable collateral classified materials.
  • Support the FSO in investigating security incidents.
  • Interpret security policies and provide guidance to personnel.
  • Stay updated on security knowledge through continuous training.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Perform additional security-related tasks as assigned by the FSO.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret clearance is required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the Industrial Security field.
  • Fundamental understanding of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM).
  • Experience with Department of Defense security systems, such as DISS and NISS.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff and clients at all levels.
  • This role requires on-site presence to support leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing Security Information Management Systems (SIMS).

This position is based on-site.
