Department Overview:

The MITRE Global Security Services (GSS) department partners with both internal and external stakeholders to manage security risks effectively. Within GSS, the Industrial Security Programs (ISP) Department is responsible for overseeing the operations of MITRE's classified facilities. This department ensures the implementation of security controls designed to protect both unclassified and classified national security information entrusted to MITRE as part of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). Our team efficiently applies resources to mitigate risks across various operational domains through a comprehensive approach to security administration standards and oversight.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an Industrial Security Specialist to provide essential security support for multiple projects across the Department of Defense (DoD) at our headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support security processes related to Control and Accountability, Storage, Transmission, Reproduction, Disposition, Retention, Disclosure, and Destruction of collateral classified materials.
  • Ensure proper accounting, control, transmission, packaging, and safeguarding of collateral classified information, including destruction in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain document control security by protecting classified documents as per regulatory standards and in coordination with the Facility Security Officer (FSO).
  • Review classified documents to verify correct markings.
  • Assist the Corporate FSO with self-inspections to ensure compliance with government and corporate security regulations.
  • Maintain an accurate official system of record reflecting all accountable collateral classified materials.
  • Support the FSO in investigating security incidents.
  • Interpret security policies and provide guidance to company personnel.
  • Stay current with security knowledge through ongoing training.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Assist with additional security-related tasks as assigned by the FSO.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret clearance is required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the Industrial Security field.
  • Fundamental understanding of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM).
  • Experience with Department of Defense security systems, such as DISS and NISS.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff and clients at all levels.
  • This position requires on-site presence to support executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing Security Information Management Systems (SIMS).
