Department Overview:

The Global Security Services (GSS) division at MITRE is committed to collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to manage security risks effectively. Within GSS, the Industrial Security Programs (ISP) Department is responsible for overseeing MITRE's classified facilities and ensuring the implementation of security measures designed to protect both unclassified and classified national security information entrusted to us as part of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). Our team diligently applies resources to mitigate risks across various operational domains through established security administration standards and control strategies.

Position Summary:

MITRE is in search of an Industrial Security Specialist to deliver security support for various projects within the Department of Defense at our headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support security processes related to Control and Accountability, Storage, Transmission, Reproduction, Disposition, Retention, Disclosure, and Destruction of collateral classified materials and information.
  • Ensure proper accounting, control, transmission, packaging, and safeguarding of collateral classified information, while facilitating destruction in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain document control security by protecting classified documents as per established regulations and in coordination with the facility security officer.
  • Review classified documents to confirm accurate marking.
  • Assist the facility security officer with self-assessments to verify compliance with governmental and organizational regulations.
  • Keep the official system of record updated to accurately reflect all accountable collateral classified materials.
  • Support investigations into security incidents as directed by the facility security officer.
  • Interpret security policies and provide guidance to personnel as needed.
  • Stay informed on security knowledge through ongoing training.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Perform additional security-related tasks as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret clearance is required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the Industrial Security field is essential.
  • Familiarity with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) is necessary.
  • Experience with Department of Defense security systems, such as DISS and NISS, is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff and clients at all levels.
  • This role requires on-site presence to support leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing Security Information Management Systems (SIMS) is advantageous.
