Procurement Specialist

This role is integral to the Veterans Health Administration, focusing on the management of medical supply procurement and inventory oversight.
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to federal employees who qualify as "surplus" or "displaced" under specific transition programs.
- Current employees within the agency are encouraged to apply.
The incumbent will provide essential support in purchasing and inventory management for medical supplies, ensuring that all necessary obligations are met to facilitate the delivery of prosthetic and sensory aids services to Veterans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts procurement activities in compliance with all relevant directives and regulations.
- Confirms vendor eligibility through the Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) and ensures registration in the System for Award Management (SAM).
- Maintains accountability for all expenditures related to prosthetics, linking obligations to individual Veterans.
- Prepares acquisition plans and procurement documentation for both stock and specific Veteran needs.
- Utilizes various software systems for inventory management and appointment scheduling.
- Selects the most effective and economical sources for procurement based on urgency.
- Acts as the primary contact for external customer service related to inventory needs.
- Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Manages funds and authorizes payments as necessary.
- Possesses knowledge of medical terminology and an understanding of physical and sensory disabilities.
- Interprets instructions from healthcare professionals accurately.
