THE POSITION

The Manufacturing Process Specialist will play a crucial role in the creation, execution, and upkeep of production methodologies and related documentation on the manufacturing floor. This position involves close collaboration with Corporate Manufacturing Engineers to design and implement new production processes for innovative product designs and advanced equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage directly with operators on the production floor to address immediate improvement initiatives.
  • Support Corporate Manufacturing Engineering and Senior Process Engineers with larger scale projects as needed.
  • Develop and update operational instructions for the production team.
  • Assist in maintaining PFMEAs under the guidance of Senior Process Engineers and support Quality in the upkeep of Control Plans.
  • Participate in Root Cause Corrective Action activities for defects in assigned areas.
  • Act as a technical intermediary between Production Engineering and Operations.
  • Contribute to manufacturability assessments alongside Production Engineering and Corporate Core Engineering.
  • Procure hand tools and small equipment to support improvement initiatives.
  • Design shop aids and small tooling to facilitate process enhancements.
  • Oversee the process and work in tandem with Corporate Manufacturing Engineering on the execution of manufacturing pilots and trials for new products and processes.
  • Train operators on new processes and any changes to existing processes.
  • Collaborate with Operations Supervisors to guide training for both new hires and ongoing training in the designated area.
  • Assist plant maintenance with the upkeep of machinery in the assigned area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Skills: Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with PFMEA and Control Plans.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D blueprints and 3D models.
  • Experience in drafting operational instructions.
  • Basic proficiency in 2D drafting and 3D modeling software (AutoCAD, DraftSight, SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to effectively interact with operators.
  • Understanding of line balancing, work measurement, and cost justification techniques.
  • Analytical problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Work in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Engage in activities such as keyboarding, lifting, standing, bending, and walking.
