The New York Power Authority is seeking an Electrical Engineer Assistant to provide electrical engineering support to our generating plant and transmission substations throughout the State of New York.
Key Responsibilities- Assist senior staff and supervisor on a full range of electric utility design modification projects, equipment applications and failure research, engineering studies, as well as operations and maintenance activities.
- Assist in the administration of on-site technical support.
- Ensure deadlines are met as assigned by supervisors.
- Assist in the coordination of work with other disciplines and departments for the successful development and execution of projects.
- Gather information (site, vendors and other engineers) for engineering tasks.
- Demonstrated basic competencies in the analysis, design and integration of electrical systems.
- Fundamental knowledge of power system concepts.
- Basic understanding of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university.
- Good understanding of power system theory preferred.
- Exposure to electric utility industry preferred.
- Approximately 25% travel, primarily within NY State.
- Willingness to enter confined spaces and climb/scale power system apparatuses is required.
The target salary range for this position is: $77,560 - $109,840. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
