Salary Range:

$53,050 - $78,514 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

  • Anticipated Hiring Range: $53,050 - $65,782 based on qualifications and experience.
  • Cafeteria Plan: Eligible employees receive an additional $5,640 annually for benefits or additional take-home pay.
  • Paid Holidays: 21 holidays, including a full week off during the holiday season and Spring Break.
  • Vacation & Sick Leave: Approximately 17 paid vacation days and 9 paid sick leave days accrued each year.

Key Responsibilities

Administration of Fire Science Program

  • Oversee the administration of the Fire Science Program, including financial oversight, staffing, policy implementation, and accreditation compliance.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of all Fire Science courses and manage state skills and certification testing.
  • Participate as a member of the Regional Training Committee and engage in relevant state committee activities.
  • Manage procurement, inventory, inspection, and testing of all program supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in drafting specifications for capital equipment and oversee related contracting and purchasing processes.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with local fire departments to enhance program administration.

Academic Affairs in Fire Science

  • Provide guidance and support for academic and educational initiatives within the Fire Science discipline.
  • Develop curriculum initiatives, including program expansion and academic articulation agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with qualification records for Fire Science instructors and teaching assistants as per accreditation standards.
  • Conduct program reviews and maintain industry certification documentation as required.
  • Lead, supervise, instruct, and evaluate faculty and staff members.
  • Assist in course instruction, learning outcome assessment, and curriculum development.
  • Engage in outreach with stakeholders, including community members and local organizations.
  • Facilitate partnerships with regional fire departments for instructional support.
  • Provide academic advising to students.
  • Assist in the logistics and instruction of practical and field exercises.

College Administration

  • Uphold a professional code of conduct and ethical standards.
  • Promote the mission, values, and strategic objectives of the college.
  • Contribute to participative governance through committee assignments and meetings.
  • Serve as a professional role model for colleagues and students.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Familiarity with applicable state and federal regulations, including FERPA.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fire Science, certification as an Arizona Fire Instructor/Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I (NFPA 1041), Arizona Fire Fighter I and II certification, Arizona Hazardous Materials Awareness/Operations certification, NWCG S-130/S-190 completion certificate, and a minimum of 8 years of experience in a progressive fire agency, meeting Coconino Community College's credentialing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a related field, experience in coordinating and supervising emergency services programs, Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II certification, Arizona Emergency Medical Technician certification, and experience teaching in a learner-centered college environment with a diverse student population.
