Moderate/Severe Special Education Instructional Assistant

Qualifications and Requirements
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
* OPTION ONE: A high school diploma or equivalent, accompanied by at least twelve (12) college credits in areas such as child behavior, child development, education, or psychology.
* OPTION TWO: A high school diploma or equivalent, along with an Associate of Arts degree in Child Development, Psychology, or related fields.
* OPTION THREE: A high school diploma or equivalent, plus a minimum of two (2) years of relevant full-time experience in a special education setting with satisfactory evaluations.
* Two (2) recent letters of reference must be included with the application.
* All required documentation must be submitted with the application for consideration.
Additionally, candidates must provide verification of 6 hours of in-service training or three college units in Discrete Trial Training, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and/or instructional strategies for students with severe disabilities prior to employment or within the first year of employment.
*Please note that substituting does not qualify as experience.*
Applicants must successfully complete all components of the examination process to be considered further.
WRITTEN EXAMINATION: Details to be determined. (Candidates will receive an invitation to test via email.)
SCORING: The written examination will be weighted at 100%.
All examinations must be passed with a score of 75% or higher. An eligibility list will remain active for 6 months or until fewer than 3 applicants are left on the list.
If five (5) applicants from the Lancaster School District demonstrate the necessary qualifications, the position may be filled on a promotional basis.
