Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and one of the following qualifications:
*An Associate of Arts degree in Child Development, Psychology, or a related field of study, with transcripts attached
OR
*A minimum of twelve college units in areas such as child behavior, child growth and development, education, or psychology, with transcripts attached
OR
*A minimum of two years of relevant full-time experience in a special education classroom with satisfactory evaluations
AND
*A valid California driver's license and be insurable
*Two recent letters of reference
*All requirements must be attached when submitting the application
In addition to the above qualifications, verification of a minimum of six additional hours of in-service training, or three college units, in behavior modification, behavioral intervention, and/or DTT must be completed prior to employment, or within one year of employment.
Applicants must also maintain current certification in behavioral and instructional strategies, as offered through workshops and seminars, in this position.
Examination Process
The examination process will consist of a written examination, a performance test, and scoring. The written examination will carry a weight of 100% and must be passed with a score of 75% or better. An eligibility list will be in effect for 6 months or until less than 3 applicants remain on the list.
Applicants who demonstrate the ability to meet the job qualifications may be considered for a promotional basis, if five applicants from the Lancaster School District meet the requirements.
