Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced legal professional to join our team as a Corporate Legal Counsel at East Penn Manufacturing Co. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and business-minded attorney to provide legal support and counseling services to our company management in connection with various corporate legal matters.

As a key member of our legal department, you will be responsible for providing all legal services to ensure maximum protection of our company's legal rights and maintain our operations within the limits prescribed by law. You will work closely with our Vice President, Legal, to manage relationships with outside law firms and provide strategic guidance on corporate matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide commercial counsel on a wide range of agreements, including vendor, technology, real estate, consulting, sales, and other commercial agreements.
  • Manage product claims and oversee all aspects of litigation, including response to document requests and discovery responses, review and edit motions, briefs, and memoranda from outside counsel.
  • Stay up-to-date on regulatory and other applicable federal, state, and international legal developments relevant to our business.
  • Assist with the management of external counsel in a cost-effective manner.
  • Leverage our contract management system and assist in contract template development.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the company to manage day-to-day legal and compliance needs.
  • Contribute to the company's high growth by working with the business to efficiently and proactively identify ways to mitigate risk.
Professional Experience/Qualifications
  • 5-7 years' experience as in-house legal counsel and/or in private practice with a focus on the needs of a manufacturing client, contract review, commercial transactions, and real estate.
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice in Pennsylvania must be current, active, and in good standing.
Skills and Competencies
  • Demonstrated strategic approach to legal problem-solving; ability to analyze problems and formulate alternative/creative solutions.
  • Excellent contract drafting skills and familiarity with commercial agreements.
  • Knowledge of and experience with litigation, insurance claims, and/or product claims is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in accordance with defined corporate risk parameters.
  • Can effectively cope with ambiguity, is unafraid to respectfully challenge the status quo by providing new ideas and solutions.
  • Strong thought leadership and business partnering skills at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information, ideas, and issues in a simple way to diverse audiences.
  • Meticulous, organized, efficient, and resourceful with strong follow-through skills.
  • Ability to drive change throughout an organization, overcoming resistance and barriers.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, to prioritize client matters and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent through each task performed.
