Position Overview:
ZipRecruiter is seeking a skilled Nuclear Proliferation Engineer to join our dedicated team within the Nuclear Non-Proliferation division. This role offers a flexible work schedule and the possibility of hybrid work arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Nuclear Proliferation Engineer, you will:
1. Collaborate with design teams, analysts, and stakeholders to establish experimental and handling requirements for spent nuclear materials.
2. Apply advanced nuclear engineering principles to create and validate designs that meet stringent requirements.
3. Conduct research on innovative materials pertinent to radiation detection, nuclear fuels, and reactor systems.
4. Analyze the nuclear fuel cycle to optimize material usage and ensure safe waste disposal methods.
5. Engage in studies focused on the detection and management of radiation and radioactive contaminants.
6. Document design processes, including models, specifications, and compliance with applicable standards.
7. Establish quality assurance protocols to maintain essential technical features throughout the project lifecycle.
8. Perform integrated analyses to ensure compliance with safety and operational requirements.
9. Develop mathematical models to support and verify engineering designs across mechanical, chemical, and electrical systems.


Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field with a minimum of 14 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree with 8 years of experience; or a PhD with 6 years of experience.
- Extensive international experience, particularly with foreign governments and organizations.
- Familiarity with International Safeguards and experience working with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'Q' clearance, which necessitates U.S. Citizenship.
