Summit County Government is seeking a highly skilled Deputy Director of Human Resources to provide comprehensive assistance to the Director of Human Resources in the administration of human resources policies and procedures. This includes compensation, employee benefits, recruitment, employee relations, training, and DEI initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded and diverse HR background with strong technical expertise and exceptional interpersonal and administrative skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily HR operations and perform related administrative and professional work as required.
- Directly supervise a staff of five HR staff members.
- Provide support to the HR Director and assist with the administration of human resources policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with department heads to develop and implement recruitment strategies.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is required.
- At least five years of progressive HR experience within a public sector organization, in benefits administration, recruitment, training, and/or employee relations, including at least 2 years of management experience.
- SHRM/HRCI Professional or Senior Certification is required.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work well with a team.
Working Conditions
This is an exempt, in-office position that works Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm and additional hours as required. May have the ability for some degree of flexible or remote work schedule.
