Position Summary:
The Continuous Improvement Specialist is tasked with identifying, coordinating, and executing projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency. This role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive lean transformation initiative designed to yield immediate, measurable outcomes and establish a foundation for ongoing improvement across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with business leaders to select, plan, and develop improvement strategies that promote sustainable cost-saving initiatives and enhance operational efficiencies.
  2. Conduct thorough analyses to identify operational opportunities, including interviews with key personnel and observation of current processes.
  3. Prepare detailed proposals for operational improvement initiatives for senior management, including preliminary cost-benefit assessments.
  4. Lead and manage approved improvement projects, ensuring they meet their objectives within the established timeline and budget.
  5. Monitor project progress, manage expectations and risks, and confirm that post-implementation benefits are realized.
  6. Facilitate projects across various business areas, focusing on continuous operational enhancements, waste reduction, and problem-solving through lean methodologies.
  7. Calculate and report savings achieved through projects, collaborating with management to finalize the financial impact.
  8. Provide mentorship and support to other project leaders as directed by the Director of Continuous Improvement.
  9. Establish and maintain continuous improvement processes, metrics (KPIs), and tools for designated departments, contributing to key performance areas such as safety, quality, delivery, cost reduction, growth, and innovation.
  10. Engage with colleagues and functional leaders to achieve project objectives.
  11. Act as a change agent by effectively communicating organizational changes and assisting employees in adapting to the continuous improvement culture.
  12. Utilize existing tracking tools and develop new systems to monitor and challenge operational processes.
  13. Conduct system checks to ensure compliance with established designs and facilitate adherence to these systems for sustained effectiveness.
  14. Participate actively in AAR's Safety Management System, reporting safety hazards and incidents encountered during daily operations.
  15. Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience leading continuous improvement initiatives in an operational setting, preferably within the aerospace sector.
  • Experience with data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Work Environment:
