Your Responsibilities
Sales Development: The Sales Engineer identifies, sources, and nurtures valuable client relationships within the designated territory.
A key expectation for this position is to meet or surpass established sales targets by crafting strategic action plans and schedules to pinpoint specific sales opportunities and forecast the necessary outreach efforts.
The Sales Engineer will actively pursue and manage direct sales to clients in the assigned region, engaging in targeted prospecting activities aimed at expanding the customer base.
They will diligently follow up on new leads and referrals generated from field activities, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with both existing and potential clients, particularly with key accounts.
Essential skills for the Sales Engineer include responding promptly to customer inquiries, introducing new products and enhancements, understanding customer requirements, and coordinating effective customer service.
Additional Responsibilities:
Preparing and delivering quotes, proposals, pricing, and credit terms. Ensuring customer satisfaction through quality assurance checks and follow-ups to address any concerns.
Upholding a professional demeanor at all times through personal conduct and initiatives.
Enhancing the division and company’s reputation by consistently embodying the core values of commitment, interaction, and innovation.
Developing, preparing, and presenting sales materials, exhibits, and promotional programs at various events, including conferences and trade shows.
Professional Development: The Sales Engineer is expected to continually enhance their knowledge of products and sales/marketing strategies by engaging in educational opportunities, reading industry publications, networking, and participating in professional organizations.
Reporting: The Sales Engineer will compile reports as required regarding activities, lost orders, closures, follow-ups, and performance metrics against set budgets.
These reports may also include insights or feedback gathered through field activities, along with recommendations for product, service, or pricing adjustments and evaluations of competitive trends.
Perform other duties as assigned.To excel in this role, you will need:
Skills and Experience:
A four-year degree in engineering, business, or marketing is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
Over 5 years of direct sales or customer service experience, particularly in industrial equipment sales.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated business analysis capabilities.
Territory:
Seattle, WA and surrounding regions. Willingness to travel overnight up to 35% of the time.
A valid driver's license is required.
