Job Summary

The Forest Stewards Guild is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as the Southeast Region Coordinator. This is a full-time position that will support the growth of the Guild's presence in the Southern Appalachian Mountains through member engagement, outreach, and education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement outreach and education strategies to promote ecological forestry practices in the region.
  • Engage and serve current members while attracting new members through various events and activities.
  • Assist with training and capacity building for Guild field crews and youth corps participants.
  • Coordinate events, workshops, and field trips to promote forest stewardship and community engagement.
  • Represent the Guild at collaborative partnership meetings, events, and conferences.
  • Conduct field work to support ecological monitoring and forest restoration projects.
  • Manage project workflow and collaborate with a team using software such as Asana, Slack, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a natural resources or environmental science related field or related experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in eastern forest ecosystems and communities.
  • Experience with graphic design and producing print and digital media content.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite design software.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a natural resources, environmental science or related field.
  • Experience implementing, inspecting, and/or monitoring forest restoration projects.
  • Competency with using Esri ArcGIS.
  • Experience, interest, or qualifications in prescribed fire.
  • Experience with website design and management.
  • Experience with membership recruitment and engagement.
