Position Overview
This role is part of FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. The position is situated within the Risk group and reports directly to the Manager of Risk Analytics & Strategy Alignment. It is designed to be remote, with occasional in-person meetings required within the service territory.

Mission of the Corporate Risk Team
The Corporate Risk team aims to transform risk into actionable insights, facilitating FirstEnergy's achievement of strategic goals. We envision a proactive Risk program that empowers informed decision-making and the exploration of opportunities. The Risk management framework consists of two primary teams: Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance Strategy & Operations. Members of the Enterprise Risk Management team will engage across various business sectors, contributing to the realization of FirstEnergy's strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities
- Integrate Risk Management with Corporate strategies to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and capitalize on value-enhancing opportunities.
- Conduct risk analytics to monitor and assess exposure to key risks, ensuring proactive calibration and escalation when necessary.
- Evaluate critical quantitative models utilized in business planning, assessing model risk for each.
- Collaborate with the Insurance Strategy & Operations team to evaluate insurance coverages, ensuring risk tolerance is maintained.
- Identify opportunities through risk analytics and assessments to mitigate risks or enhance business value, managing projects to support business units in capturing these opportunities.
- Provide strategic risk advisory services to support business units and senior management in analyzing and managing enterprise risks.

Analyst Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Corporate Risk Teams and business units to integrate risk analytics into business practices, utilizing data analytics skills.
- Perform advanced analytics using techniques such as linear regression and machine learning to interpret complex data sets.
- Familiarize with key strategic models driving decision-making across FirstEnergy.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of risk analytics models, including the Combined Financial Risk Model and Key Performance Indicator risk models.
- Enhance the Risk Escalation program by quantitatively monitoring risk exposures against defined limits.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Finance, or Engineering is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in risk analytics, data science, or risk management is essential.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Python, R, or SAS is required.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills are necessary, with a proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
