Position Overview
This opportunity is with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. The role is situated within the Risk division and reports directly to the Manager of Risk Analytics & Strategy Alignment. This position is primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings required within the service territory.

Mission of the Corporate Risk Team
The Corporate Risk team aims to transform risk into actionable insights, supporting FirstEnergy in achieving its strategic goals. We envision a proactive Risk program that fosters risk-informed decision-making and the exploration of new opportunities. The team comprises two key areas: Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance Strategy & Operations, offering members the chance to engage across various business sectors and contribute to FirstEnergy's strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Integrate Risk Management with Corporate strategies to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and capitalize on opportunities.
- Conduct risk analytics to monitor and assess exposure to key risks, ensuring timely escalation when necessary.
- Evaluate critical quantitative models used in business planning and assess model risk.
- Collaborate with the Insurance Strategy & Operations team to optimize insurance coverage in line with risk tolerance.
- Identify opportunities for risk mitigation and business value enhancement through risk assessments and analytics.
- Support strategic projects across FirstEnergy through risk analytics and advisory services, assisting business units and senior management in managing enterprise risks.

Analyst Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Corporate Risk Teams and business units to embed risk analytics into operational practices using advanced data analytics skills.
- Perform advanced analytics utilizing statistical techniques, including linear regression and machine learning.
- Familiarize with key strategic models influencing decision-making processes.
- Provide scenario stress testing to inform a risk-aware business plan.
- Develop and maintain risk analytics models to support ongoing improvement and actionable insights.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Finance, or Engineering. An advanced degree is advantageous but not mandatory.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in risk analytics, data science, or risk management is required.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools like Microsoft Power BI, Python, R, or SAS is essential.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are necessary, along with effective communication abilities.
