Opportunity Summary
This role is part of FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. The position is situated within the Risk group and reports directly to the Manager of Risk Analytics & Strategy Alignment. The role is designed to be remote, with occasional in-person meetings as necessary.
The Corporate Risk team is dedicated to transforming risk into actionable insights that align with FirstEnergy's strategic goals. Our vision is to cultivate a thorough and proactive Risk program that empowers informed decision-making and seizes opportunities. The risk management division comprises two specialized teams: Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance Strategy & Operations. Members of the Enterprise Risk Management team will engage across various business sectors, contributing to the achievement of FirstEnergy's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integrate Risk Management with Corporate strategies to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and capitalize on opportunities that enhance FirstEnergy's value.
- Conduct risk analytics to monitor key risks, calibrate acceptable risk levels, and escalate issues when necessary.
- Identify critical quantitative models essential for business planning and assess the associated model risks.
- Collaborate with the Insurance Strategy & Operations team to evaluate insurance coverages, ensuring risks are managed within acceptable limits.
- Identify opportunities for risk mitigation and business value enhancement through risk analytics and assessments.
- Support strategic projects by providing analytics as part of risk advisory services to senior management and business units.
Analyst Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with Corporate Risk Teams and business units to embed risk analytics into operational practices.
- Analyze large datasets using statistical techniques, including advanced analytics and machine learning.
- Become proficient in key strategic models that drive decision-making processes.
- Assess financial plan assumptions and conduct scenario stress testing for a risk-informed business plan.
- Develop and maintain risk analytics models, focusing on continuous improvement.
- Support the development of risk models addressing key enterprise risks.
- Enhance the Risk Escalation program by monitoring risk exposures against defined limits.
- Utilize risk analytics to inform risk limits across enterprise risks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Finance, or Engineering.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in risk analytics, data science, or related fields.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Python, R, or SAS.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
