We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join our team in the Materials Systems Lab at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research on the economic and environmental aspects of materials systems, with a focus on the energy transition.

**About the Position**

The Research Scientist will work on various topics related to dynamic modeling of materials markets, life cycle assessment methodology, and process-based cost modeling of materials systems. They will develop and apply system and process models to understand the implications of technology development on dynamics in materials supply chains.

**Responsibilities**

The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty, postdoctoral associates, and research sponsors, and supervise undergraduate and graduate students. They will also interact with diverse stakeholders, including those from non-governmental organizations, industry, and government agencies.

**Requirements**

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a Ph.D. in an engineering discipline, such as materials science, chemical engineering, or industrial ecology. They should also have experience in quantitative analysis, including applied econometrics, and solid background in thermodynamics and materials flows.

**Preferred Qualifications**

Experience in applied theoretical modeling and expertise in statistics, economics, process modeling, optimization, and computer programming are highly desirable.

**What We Offer**

We offer a competitive salary range of $95,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience. The position also comes with a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
