Position Overview: Sales Representative - Washington, D.C. Area

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Regional Sales Leader

Employment Status: Exempt

Location: Washington, D.C. Area

Importance of the Role:

The Sales Representatives at Genesee Scientific are tasked with driving sales of research products within a designated territory. You will cultivate and sustain strong customer relationships, identify growth opportunities within an established customer base, and ensure market penetration and profitability while meeting sales and profit objectives. This role is ideal for a motivated professional eager to gain sales experience within a thriving organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibility for your territory, fostering and maintaining robust customer relationships.
  • Formulate strategies and implement plans to achieve annual sales and gross margin targets.
  • Oversee pricing strategies within your territory to meet financial goals.
  • Make independent decisions while utilizing available resources to meet customer needs, ensuring effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Keep abreast of competitor and industry trends, staying informed about new products/services and relevant customer insights to incorporate into your business strategy.
  • Maintain precise reporting, records, and documentation essential for effective territory management.
  • Address customer concerns or potential issues and complete additional tasks as assigned by management.
  • Provide customers with updates on supply and pricing trends, assisting in inventory management and offering consultative support.
  • Represent Genesee Scientific positively in all customer interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience, typically with two or more years in sales or laboratory research.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering impactful sales and marketing information that influences customer decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Preferred qualifications include proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams, along with experience in Salesforce, Sage, or other CRM platforms.
  • Results-driven, with a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
  • This role primarily operates from a home office with frequent travel to customer locations; overnight travel may be required.
  • Minimal physical exertion is needed, involving tasks such as walking, standing, bending, reaching, and occasionally lifting or carrying items weighing less than 10 lbs.
