About the Role

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Transmission Planning Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our transmission planning group, you will be responsible for planning and implementing transmission projects to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of our transmission system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and evaluate transmission systems, processes, and facilities to support company objectives.
  • Develop complex engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments.
  • Determine methods and techniques for obtaining results.
  • Recommend alternative engineering solutions to management to meet business needs.
  • Maintain project timeliness and budgets.
  • Participate in the development of new standards to influence the successful implementation of clear and concise standards that support improved reliability for the electric system.
Additional Responsibilities for Senior/Principal Roles
  • Coordinate with neighboring utilities on planning studies for interconnected transmission and generation facilities.
  • Prepare annual screening studies for compliance.
  • Perform main grid power flow stability studies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member, maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and the National Electric Codes.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calm.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers, including automated tools and software applications, such as power flow and dynamic analysis, database management, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Power Option (particularly Power System Analysis).
  • Advanced Degree.
