PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Transmission Planning Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our transmission planning group, you will be responsible for planning and implementing transmission projects to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of our transmission system.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and evaluate transmission systems, processes, and facilities to support company objectives.
- Develop complex engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments.
- Determine methods and techniques for obtaining results.
- Recommend alternative engineering solutions to management to meet business needs.
- Maintain project timeliness and budgets.
- Participate in the development of new standards to influence the successful implementation of clear and concise standards that support improved reliability for the electric system.
- Coordinate with neighboring utilities on planning studies for interconnected transmission and generation facilities.
- Prepare annual screening studies for NERC compliance.
- Perform main grid power flow stability studies.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member, maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and the National Electric Codes.
- Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calm.
- Demonstrated communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.
- Proficient with the use of personal computers, including automated tools and software applications, including power flow and dynamic analysis, database management, Visio, Microsoft Office Suite, and use of EMS or SCADA.
- Minimum of two or more years of directly related experience in transmission modeling, transmission system engineering, and/or transmission system planning for Area Transmission Planner II.
- Minimum of eight or more years of directly related experience in transmission modeling, transmission system engineering, and/or transmission system planning for Senior Area Transmission Planner II.
- Minimum of fifteen years of directly related experience in transmission system modeling, transmission system engineering, and/or transmission system planning for Principal Area Transmission Planner II.
- Power Option (particularly Power System Analysis).
- Advanced Degree.
