Key Responsibilities
- Engage in the design, development, and assessment of main grid transmission systems and processes to align with organizational goals, ensuring adherence to NERC/WECC reliability standards.
- Conduct complex engineering analyses and prepare comprehensive reports, specifications, and design documents related to the planning and operation of transmission facilities.
- Serve as a leading authority within the team, providing mentorship and guidance to junior planners, engineers, and technical staff.
- Formulate innovative engineering solutions and present recommendations to management to address business challenges.
- Oversee project timelines and budgets, ensuring successful delivery of engineering services.
- Collaborate with neighboring utilities on planning studies for interconnected transmission and generation systems.
- Prepare annual compliance studies in alignment with NERC requirements and perform power flow and stability analyses for the main grid.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience in transmission modeling, engineering, and planning.
- Strong project management skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively within a team, manage project timelines, and meet commitments.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, as well as NERC and WECC reliability standards.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure while maintaining composure.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work cross-functionally to articulate requirements and present alternatives.
- Proficiency in utilizing engineering software and tools, including power flow analysis applications and database management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
- Advanced degree in a related field.
