We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Assistant/Referrals Coordinator to join our team at LifeLong Medical Care. As a key member of our patient-centered care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support to our patients and healthcare providers.
Responsibilities- Process referral requests from providers and communicate with them as needed to clarify.
- Request urgent appointments as necessary and verify current insurance information.
- Contact HMOs, PPOs, Medi-Cal/Medicare, or other special funding sources to obtain authorizations for reimbursement of services.
- Follow up on all referrals and maintain accurate tracking in NextGen and i2i.
- Coordinate efforts with Health Information Technician to ensure medical report information is received and placed in the chart.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- High school diploma or GED and successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
- Three years of administrative experience in a medical or human services setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance.
- Experience with electronic health records.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet, with the ability to type 50 wpm.
- College degree in a related field.
- Community or Public Health experience.
- EPIC experience.
