Position: PRN Clinical Nurse - Endoscopy Unit

Overview:

We are in search of a PRN Clinical Nurse to autonomously design and deliver professional nursing care for patients within an outpatient surgery/endoscopy setting, adhering to established medical and nursing protocols. This role involves providing nursing services to patients and their families, consistent with the RN scope of practice as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and document nursing care in an outpatient/endoscopy environment, utilizing relevant software and adhering to physician directives and organizational policies, under the guidance of the charge nurse or clinical lead.
  • Gather and evaluate patient information across all stages of endoscopy, including pre-operative, procedural, and recovery phases.
  • Formulate recommendations for nursing care plans, assess the care provided, document actions taken, and communicate patient responses throughout all care stages.
  • Delegate responsibilities to other team members, including patient care technicians.
  • Support colleagues in the delivery of patient care as required.
  • Ensure the maintenance of the care environment, including equipment, instruments, and supplies.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development by maintaining competencies in relevant areas such as Point of Care Testing and Moderate Sedation.
  • Identify personal learning needs and seek appropriate educational opportunities.
  • Recognize and participate in performance improvement initiatives related to clinical and operational safety.
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions.
  • Assist in the collection and processing of pathology specimens as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program is required.
  • Registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing must enroll in a BSN program within two years of employment and complete it within five years.
  • A minimum of twelve months of relevant clinical experience is required. New graduates or those with six months of experience may be considered based on performance.

Work Schedule:

  • PRN staff may block out up to eight dates per scheduling period for personal time off, including vacations.
  • Availability for scheduling is required on weekdays, excluding blocked dates.
  • PRN staff should be prepared to work up to two or more days per week as needed.
  • PRN staff are expected to complete their full shifts, similar to full-time employees.
