Position Overview:

The Hematology Oncology Clinic at Duke Raleigh Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist who is committed to our mission of Advancing Health Together. Candidates who qualify will be eligible for a commitment bonus.

Department Profile:

Our team of hematologists and oncologists at the Duke Raleigh Hospital Cancer Center provides comprehensive treatment options for a variety of cancer types.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver professional nursing care to patients in accordance with the standards set by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures.
  • Guide nursing staff in the proper use and care of materials and equipment, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
  • Evaluate nursing care and communicate relevant patient information to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in assigned areas.
  • Observe nursing staff activities and recommend improvements to enhance care quality.

Qualifications:

Experience: No prior experience is required.

Education: Candidates must have graduated from an accredited nursing program (Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree, or Nursing Diploma). Registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in a BSN program within two years of hire.

Licensure: A valid compact nursing license is required, with the expectation to obtain a North Carolina nursing license within 90 days of hire.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of nursing processes and the ability to assess the needs of patients.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and establish effective working relationships.
  • Strong communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Proficient in documentation and use of computer systems.
  • Ability to manage physical demands of the role, including prolonged standing and walking.
