As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Mental Health Technician plays a crucial role in delivering Psychiatric Rehabilitative services to individuals in the Psychiatric Inpatient Unit. This position involves:
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting unit personnel in providing comprehensive care to patients.
- Facilitating structured activities that promote mental wellness.
- Addressing personal care needs and contributing to discharge planning.
- Implementing crisis intervention strategies to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
Qualifications:
- A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in psychiatric care, is preferred.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English clearly and effectively.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory at the time of hire or within six months.
- Phlebotomy training is required at the time of hire or within six months.
Certification Requirements:
Effective January 2019, all staff must obtain certifications for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association.
