CNC Machinist Operations Specialist

Job Purpose
The primary responsibilities of this role involve setting up and operating Multi-Axis CNC Lathes and CNC Mills, while maintaining production efficiencies and part quality.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Setup, operate, and debug CNC Lathes and Mills, ensuring efficient production and high-quality parts.
- Maintain machine tool offsets to guarantee part quality and make necessary adjustments as required.
- Perform minor program changes to NC code to optimize production processes.
- Monitor tool wear and implement process or tool changes accordingly.
- Read process sheets and mechanical drawings with a deep understanding of GD&T principles.
- Work on multiple machines, performing various tasks throughout the day to meet production demands.
- Utilize general measuring instruments, including indicators, micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, gage blocks, rules, protractors, and height gages.
- Enter inspection data into computer software to track production progress.
- Perform basic machine maintenance, such as changing fluids and filters, to ensure equipment functionality.
- Maintain a clean work environment and machine work area, adhering to company standards.
- Follow company policies and documented procedures to ensure compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Technical Training Certificate.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience setting up and running CNC Lathes and Mills.
- Technical Training College with a focus on CNC setups and operation or similar Apprentice training.
- Ability to read blueprints and knowledge of GD&T are essential.
- Understanding of both Metric and English measuring systems is required.
- Ability to use various measuring equipment.
- Basic computer knowledge and Microsoft Office skills.
- Knowledge of cutting tools and exotic materials/high-temp alloys.
- Ability to write and edit NC programs with a deep understanding of cutting parameters.
- Proficient with computer and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with Mori Seiki, MAPPS-4, Mazak, Mazatrol, and Mastercam is a plus.
- Strong communication skills.
Working Conditions
- Generally working in a production environment.
- Required exposure to industrial oils, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesives, and other chemicals.
- Requirement for some independent actions and/or decisions is expected.
- Some repetitive motion required on occasion.
Physical Requirements
- Periodic lifting of materials and parts weighing up to 70 lbs required daily.
- Intermittent long periods of sitting and standing required.
