Job Summary:

The Practical Nursing Specialist (PNS) manages healthcare services for employees within the onsite clinic, overseeing the evaluation and management of workplace injuries as well as ensuring adherence to medical surveillance protocols.

The PNS communicates essential information to employees and key stakeholders regarding workplace safety and injury prevention while ensuring compliance with health-related regulations.


Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
  • Administering medications as prescribed by a physician
  • Monitoring vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
  • Providing basic wound care, including cleaning and dressing injuries
  • Administering injections as required
  • Delivering immunizations
  • Documenting medical histories
  • Inputting data into electronic health records
  • Managing intravenous therapy
  • Tracking fluid and food intake and output
  • Safely assisting in patient mobility
  • Evaluating patient responses to medications

Administrative Duties:
  • Coordinating appointment schedules
  • Maintaining up-to-date medical records
  • Writing prescriptions upon physician request
  • Providing guidance to onsite personnel at local clinics/client locations as needed
  • Assisting with daily operational issues and escalating as necessary to management
  • Overseeing all aspects of the Occupational Health Services Program
  • Educating employees on health-related topics
  • Preparing and supervising clinic interactions with the Overseeing Physician as needed
  • Maintaining patient charts and employee records
  • Managing workman's compensation claims
  • Keeping a current log of workplace injuries, outlining treatment plans for weekly reviews
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations such as OSHA and DOT
  • Updating the OSHA log on a monthly basis

Position Requirements:
  • Valid state LPN license required
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience (Required)
  • Preferred 2+ years in occupational health
  • Effective communication skills across all organizational levels
  • Strong administrative and management capabilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Commitment to professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality
  • Experience in developing health and wellness programs and conducting ergonomic assessments
  • Solid understanding of workers' compensation case management and regulations
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, ADA, FMLA, and OSHA regulations
  • Knowledge of practices in manufacturing and production facilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Position may require proof of COVID-19 vaccination
