The Role

The Shipping Lead is a key member of our operations team, responsible for performing various duties within the department. This role serves as a point of contact for shipping associates, internal, and external customers.

This position is located in Athens, Ohio, and requires flexibility to meet production and project deadlines.

The Responsibilities
  • Participate in daily shipping processes, including picking, packing, and shipment of finished goods.
  • Assist in inventory control methods within the shipping department.
  • Ensure materials are stored according to proper storage requirements defined by products and QA guidelines.
  • Rotate materials, such as FIFO and LIFO, to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Remove outdated and nonconforming materials.
  • Participate in weekly cycle counts.
  • Support shipping staff to optimize performance, including training.
  • Assist the Supervisor in controlling and troubleshooting shipping floor activities and issues.
  • Assist in maintaining shipping paperwork to ensure completeness, accuracy, and specifications for shipment.
  • Assist in maintaining established QSP, QSOP, and GMP guidelines for the area.
  • Assist in process improvements of material flow, lean manufacturing, and procedure changes as required.
  • Troubleshoot potential issues in shipping processes and inventory control methods.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills at all times with all levels of staff.
  • Follow established processes and operational policies regarding inventory control and shipping processes.
The Individual

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Understanding of GMP and FDA procedures.
  • A minimum of 2 years of shipping process experience.
  • Basic math, reading, and comprehension skills.
  • Exceptional teamwork, cooperation, and guidance skills.
  • Good verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, word processing, and Excel spreadsheets knowledge.

Preferred:

  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Experience with ERP software.
The Work Environment

This role is located in a typical manufacturing environment, requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Flexible work hours are required to meet production and project deadlines. The ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, and move without constraint is necessary.
