Job Summary

Phoenix Metals is seeking a skilled Crane Operator to join our team in Middletown, OH. As a key member of our Plant family, you will be responsible for supervising or performing metals processing and distribution work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Unload inbound coils in the receiving area.
  • Move coils from storage to production areas.
  • Load outbound coils onto trucks in the shipping area.
  • Inspect the crane for defective parts and notify the supervisor of defects or malfunctions.
  • Operate the crane, ensuring loads are safely attached and within lifting limits.
  • Keep the crane clean and well-maintained.
  • Learn to navigate the operating system (LANSA/Mocha).
  • Ensure the coil bay and associated areas are free of debris.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Wear required PPE at all times.
  • May also be responsible for shipping and receiving duties (loading stock material on trailers).

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • Warehousing and material handling experience preferred.
  • Experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting metal working machines preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
  • Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and using measurements of length, width, height, and weight.
  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.
  • Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on knowledge, experience, and judgment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.

Work Environment:

Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Warehouse/Field Setting; minimal temperature environment.

Schedule:

Training will be 7a-3p Monday-Friday for 2 to 3 weeks. After training is complete, the shift will be 10a-6p Monday-Friday.
