Key Responsibilities:
The Monitor Technician is an unlicensed individual who provides indirect patient care within the department. Responsibilities include monitoring cardiac rhythms through direct cardiac monitors, addressing the communication needs of the department, and transcribing physician orders when necessary. The technician ensures that lab and radiology tests are ordered and completed, and prepares and maintains records in the Emergency Department.

Additionally, the technician is responsible for ordering supplies for the unit and ensuring that each patient's chart is prepared with the necessary documentation on a daily basis.

The role also involves assisting nursing staff with indirect patient care tasks, provided that these activities do not interfere with the primary responsibility of dysrhythmia monitoring.


Qualifications:
Education, Experience, and Training:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent or relevant experience is required for all new hires.
  • Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
  • Current BLS certification is required upon hire and must be kept current.
  • Previous experience as a Monitor Technician is preferred, with a minimum of six months.
Montclair Hospital Medical Center offers competitive compensation, with a reasonable estimate for this role being $17.83.

The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of hiring, taking into account various factors such as skillset, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
