Position Overview

The Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Radiology Nurse is a highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) dedicated to providing exceptional patient care in a specialized clinical environment. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while adhering to the principles of the Watson Model of Care. The nurse will work collaboratively with the Cardio Pulmonary Services team and Acute Care Nursing to support a diverse patient population, including those undergoing conscious sedation procedures and cardiac monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize the nursing process as a framework for problem-solving, anticipating and addressing the needs of patients and their families.
  • Conduct thorough nursing assessments, recognizing subtle clinical changes and adjusting care plans accordingly.
  • Apply current research and critical thinking to make informed clinical decisions that align with patient age and needs.
  • Foster therapeutic relationships with patients, ensuring respect for their rights and dignity throughout their care journey.
  • Communicate effectively using the SBAR technique during hand-off situations to ensure continuity of care.
  • Document all aspects of patient care meticulously, following established policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and adjust interventions to enhance patient comfort and promote active participation in recovery.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address the unique care requirements of each patient.
  • Analyze patient data to maintain fluid and electrolyte balance, airway patency, and adequate gas exchange.
  • Administer medications safely, including vasoactive and emergency drugs, while understanding their indications and expected outcomes.
  • Assist with various cardiac and interventional radiology procedures, ensuring the setup and troubleshooting of necessary equipment.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to regulatory standards and promoting patient safety.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the overall strategic goals of the organization.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience in Telemetry or Critical Care settings.
  • At least two years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab.
  • Current California Registered Nursing license.
  • BCLS and ACLS certifications are required.
  • Preferred certifications include CRN or CCRN.
  • Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are advantageous.
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with Electronic Medical Records are preferred.
