Key Responsibilities

Program Insight

The Intercept program caters to a wide demographic of youth, particularly those entangled with various child welfare systems and those at heightened risk of family separation. This initiative focuses on preventing out-of-home placements by providing essential support to families, enabling them to maintain their youth in a safe home setting. The role involves delivering intensive therapeutic services directly within family homes.

Role Duties

  • Manage a small caseload of 4-6 families
  • Conduct family therapy sessions three times weekly, scheduled to accommodate family availability
  • Participate in three supervision meetings weekly
  • Utilize web-based documentation tools, including voice recognition technology in many locations
  • Provide on-call support to families during weekdays and one weekend each month
  • Travel up to 60-80 miles to conduct home visits
  • Deliver therapeutic services in various community settings

Additional Information

The work schedule is flexible and designed around the needs of the families served. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, have access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel, and maintain auto insurance. Community-based staff will receive reimbursement for applicable mileage.

Qualifications

Requirements for Family Intervention Specialists

At Youth Villages, we prioritize hiring counselors who meet the Qualified Professional standard in North Carolina. Please review the qualifications below to determine your eligibility for this position.

For Master's Degree Candidates:

Must hold a relevant degree at the time of application and possess one year of full-time experience (2,000 hours) with the designated population.

For Bachelor's Degree Candidates:

Must hold a relevant degree at the time of application and possess two years of full-time experience (4,000 hours) with the designated population.

For Licensed Candidates:

Must hold one of the following licenses in North Carolina: LCMHCA, LMFTA, LCSWA, LPA, or LCSASA.

Accepted Degrees:

Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy. Exceptions may apply for other degrees in behavioral sciences with relevant coursework.

Experience Requirements:

Experience must involve working with at-risk youth exhibiting behaviors such as truancy, substance abuse, aggression, or other related issues. Clinical case management or therapeutic intervention experience is preferred.

Essential Skills:

Strong written and verbal communication skills, exceptional time management, and the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively. Experience in family therapy or Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is advantageous.

Compensation: $50,000, commensurate with education and clinical licensure.
