Job Summary

Under the direction of the Manager IV, the Regional Community Engagement Specialist will support the Office of Border Health and Community Health Improvement Program initiatives to reduce health disparities among vulnerable populations in Texas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement community engagement plans to build relationships with selected communities and identify community needs.
  • Conduct listening sessions, focus groups, and interviews with community members and facilitate coalition building in selected communities.
  • Identify and develop cross-sector partnerships with existing community or social service delivery programs.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve health and lead community health improvement activities to strengthen community capacity to face future public health emergencies.
  • Collaborate with regional teams and stakeholders to develop and implement work plans, goals, and objectives to improve health conditions and reduce health disparities in communities.
Requirements
  • Critical thinking skills necessary to operate with extensive latitude for use of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel across Public Health Region (PHR) 11.
