Disease Intervention Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Disease Intervention Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Public Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting HIV-STD control activities, including active surveillance, investigations, and contact elicitation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of public health principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct HIV-STD investigations and prevention counseling sessions
Perform active disease surveillance activities, including phone calls and on-site inspections
Collect and analyze data, and assist with program evaluation and reporting
Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with regional officials, agencies, and individuals
Present current information to the medical community and conduct educational sessions for diverse audiences
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as public health or a related field
2+ years of experience in a related field, such as disease surveillance or public health
Strong understanding of public health principles and practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a team setting
Working Conditions:
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
The candidate will be required to travel to various locations, including regional offices and community-based organizations
The candidate will be required to work with confidential records and information
